Alegent Health AfterOurs Urgent Care Will Begin Operations in Omaha in May
Health System and Progressive Urgent Care Organization to Co-locate with
Midwest Family Physicians in Eagle Run
OMAHA, Neb.—Alegent Health will soon offer consumers an affordable, late night, holiday, and weekend, alternative to emergency department (ED) care for non-life threatening injuries with the opening of their newest clinic “Alegent Health AfterOurs Urgent Care”. On May 24th, Alegent Health AfterOurs will begin co-locating with Midwest Family Physicians, at 14450 Eagle Run Drive, in West Omaha. By leasing clinic space from successful daytime physician practices for use nights, weekends, and holidays, Alegent Health AfterOurs reduces their capital investment by 70 to 80 percent vs. typical urgent care centers, allowing them to staff their centers much later than other urgent care centers, as well as pass along huge cost savings to their customers and insurance providers.
“Alegent Health AfterOurs believes that the patient/primary care physician relationship is most beneficial to health care consumers. We encourage consumers to seek primary care services by only offering hours that don’t coincide with traditional physician practice hours, and by referring patients back to their physician for follow-up care. When our patients don’t have a primary care provider we refer them to doctors in the community,” said Chris Rehm, Executive Director for AfterOurs Urgent Care in Colorado.
Alegent Health AfterOurs Continued2 Alegent Health AfterOurs’ board certified physicians will be available from 5 p.m. to Midnight on weekdays and 8 a.m. to Midnight on weekends and holidays. Patients can be treated for a wide array of simple to moderately complex problems and conditions including: sports injuries, colds and flu, sprains and strains, strep throat, minor to moderate headaches, minor infections and non-life threatening cuts requiring stitches. No appointment will be necessary and co-pays will average less than half of typical ED co-pays. Major insurance, Medicaid, Medicare and Workers’ Compensation will also be accepted.
Fred Hosler, M.D., MPA, senior vice president and chief medical officer of Alegent Health, adds, “Alegent Health AfterOurs Urgent Care relieves pressure on already overcrowded hospital emergency departments, enabling ED’s to be available to handle the more serious cases—the primary reason they exist.”
